Before I buy the Nikkor AF 50mm f1.4D, I tried to search internet for comparison photo taken by f1.4 and f1.8, but no luck.

After did some research  in forum and internet,  i have made up my decision, BUY !!!

Here I want to share some comparison photo taken by these 2 lenses, so for those who want to compare these 2 lenses can take a look.

In term of built quality, f1.4D win because f1.8D too plasticly and the f1.4D’s front lens element also larger than f1.8D.

Below test photos are taken with D80, SB600 on Manfrotto Tripod.

To me, I found that 50mm f1.4D is more contrast then f1.8D and f1.4D looks more creamy when both set to f1.8.  Other than that, the differences are very minimum.

@ f1.4

@ f1.8

@ f2.2

@ f2.8

@ f3.5

@ f4.5

@ f5.6

@ f11
