Many people said Linux is for geeks who required to know old scripting. It is already in the past. Now you can experience an operating system which can compete with Microsoft Windows for FREE ! It is Ubuntu and it so easy to configure and use. Not only that, the Ubuntu’s core Philosophies are:

  • Every computer user should have the freedom to download, run, copy, distribute, study, share, change and improve their software for any purpose, without paying licensing fees.
  • Every computer user should be able to use their software in the language of their choice.
  • Every computer user should be given every opportunity to use software, even if they work under a disability.

Today, I have received my free copy of Ubuntu 7.10 (Gutsy Gibbon) which I have ordered from HERE 2 weeks ago.

As with previous versions, Ubuntu ships as a “live CD,” which allows you to boot from your DVD drive and test Ubuntu without affecting your existing system. If you have decided to commit to Ubuntu, just click “Install.” Then Ubuntu will lead you through the installation process and the entire installation process took me about 20 minutes on a pretty old system without monitor. (Pentium 3 550Mhz, 768MB RAM, 3 x 20GB HDD, NIC)

After the OS installation, you got most of the software that you need to use daily such as office, graphics, games, internet, accessories and etc.

Still not enough?Just click the Add/Remove to download and install from internet for FREE !Besides using it as client, you can also install the other components such as Samba File Share, PHP & Apache Web Server, ProFTP FTP Server, mySQL Database Server, SSH Server to use as server.

As I have mentioned my old system without monitor. No worry because I uses it as server and I have enabled the Remote Desktop that came with the standard installation and I can remote access from my other system via VNC client.

Need more help? No problem, just follow the guide HERE and you should be able to resolve 90% of the issue. Want to cover another 10%? Type the error message or code in google plus Ubuntu as keyword, you should able to get the resolution almost 100%.

Gentium
Gentium is a typeface family designed to enable the diverse ethnic groups around the world who use the Latin and Greek scripts to produce readable, high-quality publications. It supports a wide range of Latin-based alphabets and includes glyphs that correspond to all the Latin ranges of Unicode. The design is intended to be highly readable, reasonably compact, and visually attractive. The additional ‘extended’ Latin letters are designed to naturally harmonize with the traditional 26 ones.

Delicious
The Delicious font character has a unique shape. Consistency is in spacing, but not in the character shape. Special attention was given to character spacing to obtain a homogenic appearance. With it’s relatively large x-height the Delicious can be used for text in smaller point sizes. The Delicious italic is not a slanted roman, but a true italic. Serif, Mac / PC.
